... the fundamental cause of good or bad is not within the
object outside ourselves, but within our own minds.

—Masahiro Mori

I am Kaho Abe, currently a fellow at Eyebeam, the leading not-for-profit art and technology center in the United States. I am a New York based designer interested in improving social and personal experiences through the use of technology, fashion and games.

At Eyebeam, I am researching Games and Technology. These days people often play games alone on computers or consoles. The games I make utilize technology to bring people out of isolation and encourage face-to-face interaction. They are usually spectator-friendly, event style games. Some require the use of physical interaction. "Mary Mack 5000" and "Kagemusha: Shadow Warriors" are games I have been working on at Eyebeam that fall under this category. "Hit Me!" and "Haptic Music Gloves" are similar past projects.

Simply put, I love making things: whether it's sewing a whole wedding dress or coding stuff. I like using both sides of my brain. I studied Economics in undergrad, but my career has been mostly in Fashion Design working for small designers and large corporations. I went to Parsons for MFA in Design and Technology from 2003-05 where I learned Physical Computing and Game Design. I have discovered that building and designing games is an ideal melding of my love of intellectual problem solving and analysis with my passion to create.

Here is the blog I am keeping at Eyebeam.

Here is my portfolio I made before Eyebeam.
